Before this game, I had never really played an MMO. I went to level 10 in WOW and gave up because all I did was menial tasks like kill 17 howling wolves and 25 red spiders. That’s not very fun. In getting my Shire quests, I don’t think I have had a “kill ‘em all” quest yet.
Now, granted, all of my quests have been equally menial, including play hide and seek, gathering chickens, delivering mail, and telling someone bad news that the mayor was too cowardly to say. However, it does seem like this fits with the Shire as described in Lord of the Rings. It’s a very laid back, take a nap in the middle of the day and read a book by the fire type area. Everyone is concerned by the inconsequential, and don’t bother to look to the larger problem of Sauron.
The biggest story line I have encountered thus far is that a certain hobbit is not happy that he encountered some trouble, and demands money from the mayor. The mayor won’t do it, but he is making me tell the hobbits Aunt about it. Not much happens in the Shire.
Oh, and if there was any question, my character is a level-6 Hobbit Burglar named Daddo. I figured everyone would go DPS, and I wanted a slightly different experience. I’d rather try to sneak by things and take what I want than to just annihilate every baddie in sight. Plus, I suppose I be a decent debuffer if I ever get high enough. Oh, by the way, here’s my picture.
